ShinichirÅ Watanabe, born May 24, 1965 in Kyoto, is a Japanese anime director and writer. He is most well-known for the television anime series Cowboy Bebop.

[edit] Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop is the first series directed by Watanabe and is considered by many to be his best work yet. The is set in the future, when bounty hunters search the galaxy for wanted criminals to turn in for considerable amounts of money, or Woolongs in the show. Bebop focuses on four specific bounty hunters who end up working together. Their names are Spike, Jet, Faye and Ed, who all work out of Jet's ship, the Bebop.

The series spans 26 episodes, including a re-cap episode called Medley/Mish-Mash Blue.

The movie, Knockin' on Heaven's Door or Tengoku no Tobira, was produced in 2001 and was set in-between episodes 22 and 23 of the series.
