Retrosmash is a flash animator primarily affiliated with the Newgrounds-based group known as the Star Syndicate. He has worked with various versions of flash programs since late 2004.

2004 was the year in which Retrosmash began his escapades in flash, but did not finish or release any actual movies.
[edit] Starting out
Up to this point, ever since 2001, Retrosmash had been a creator of numerous brief comic books and a very amateurish artist, often substituting average stick figures for human characters and other complicated organisms. Sometime in 2003, he discovered the website known as Newgrounds.com and was entertained by the likes of animators such as LegendaryFrog, Pikanjo, and the Clock Crew, among others.
Then, in November 2004, Retrosmash would fatefully take his artistic skills and involvement with Newgrounds to the next level when one of his close friends introduced him to Macromedia Flash, which immediately struck him as a fascinating animation program. With the aid of that same exact friend, Retrosmash recieved a copy of Flash MX 2004 and quickly got to work. Originally, of course, his animation and characters were still typical and unimaginative, though this was also a time where the anime-like drawing style of his friend would slowly influence him for a while.
Overall, Retrosmash's first attempts with flash in this year were simply testing of the waters, but would signal more creative and successful things to come.

In 2005, Retrosmash became fully included in the Newgrounds audience, joined his first two--and to date, only--flash groups, and released his initial handful of flash movies and collaborations.
