[edit] 2004
In 2004, he knew about the existence of Macromedia Flash and gave it a chance to develop practice animations, teaming up with a animation team called 5-7 with Rodrigo Duéñez and his brother Arturo. From this group birthed the series TMNT REBELS, and Final Fantasy Mixed in Balamb, reaching almost 1 million views at Newgrounds. Julian decided to make something more serious, and joined with Francisco Alexandro, a graphic designer also from Mexico, and finished the animation called Jeremy.
Julian and Francisco appeared in local newspapers for the exhibition of Jeremy in the State Center of Art of Baja California, Mexico.
In this year he also made the following animations with 5-7:
- "LOSER" A music video from one of Julian's favorite bands, "Ayreon" were the creator of the band Arjen Lucassen posted a review in Newgrounds.
- Chrono Trigger Trailer A fan video for Chrono Trigger SNES Game.
- Super Metroid A Super Metroid tribute.
- Flash Drawing Tutorial A drawing tutorial on how to draw anime in Flash.
[edit] 2005
Julian's work vastly improved since the year before, and the drawings got better quality with the help of a Wacom tablet. He and 5-7 continued the series of TMNT REBELS, with a Special Edition of the first episode, deviating from the original plot. He also continued the Final Fantasy: Mixed in Balamb saga with episode 2, which was divided in 3 episodes, and spanned over 20 minutes of animation.
Julian also made some collaborations with fellow Newgrounds artists in 2005:
- ++NES COLLAB++ A Nintendo Entertainment System collaboration, featuring Punch Out!, Mario Bros, Zelda, Mega Man and Kung Fu.
- Mario's 20th Anniversary A collaboration for Nintendo's most popular character.
After making all this collaborations and solo/team projects, 5-7 recruited Francisco Alexandro, and changed the team name into Quimera.
With a new name for the team, Quimera launched a new full frame by frame animated series. The first episode released was Crow's Life Episode 1
