Joelasticot was born in Quebec, Canada, on the august 3rd of 1989. As most members of his family, Joelasticot drew a lot, and he soon developed interest in animation.
It was during his second year of high school that a friend of his showed him Newgrounds.com and Macromedia Flash. He slowly started working with Flash, doing humorous animations.

Joelasticot started doing a few Flashes and practicing before he got on any serious projects. His first release on Newgrounds was the demo of a dress-up game that was never finished ([1]). It was also one of his first experiences with Actionscript.
As he continued using Flash, Joelasticot started reading books and online tutorials to develop his Actionscript knowledge. Eventually, he was able to code games on his own. He met other Flash artists online, with whom he sometimes teamed up to create games (Psi43).
A milestone in Joelasticot's Flash experience was the first time he participated to a game contest, hosted by the ArmorGames website, where the goal was to create an unique and new game for the Newgrounds and ArmorGames users. He ended up second out of many participants.
