Hayao Miyazaki

Hayao Miyazaki is known for his critically acclaimed art direction and animation. He is the most recognized animator in Japan and has often been compared to the likes of Walt Disney due to his success in the industry.
[edit] Early Life
Miyazaki was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 5th, 1941. His father, head of an airplane parts company, is considered to be a reason why many of Miyazaki's films focus on aviation. Miyazaki's childhood consisted largely of moving from one place to the next due to his mothers constant struggle with spinal tuberculosis. To pass the time Hayeo would sketch planes and battleships.
After he saw the animated film Hakuja Den (Considered to be the first full length feature animated film in Japan) Hayao dedicated himself to learning how to draw people and animate. After graduating from Gakushuin University, he landed a job at Toei Animation.
