[edit] Before Starting/Common Mistakes

A few of you have started your article at User:Name, when syntax for the article should be Name only. your userpage is a personal portal to discuss yourself and your involvement with Anipedia, as well as a place for people to communicate with you. Your article is entirely different - it is the encyclopedia article about yourself.

Do NOT create your article on your User page! If you have already created your encyclopedia article at the wrong address, please do the following:
Cut and paste all code from your User:Name page to Name. Example, http://anipedia.thebackalleys.com/index.php/User:Rtil is the wrong area for my encyclopedia article. http://anipedia.thebackalleys.com/index.php/rtil is the correct area for my encyclopedia article. If you do not wish to have an Anipedia userpage, you can have it redirect to your encyclopedia article. To do this, wipe your User:Name page and replace it with the following: #REDIRECT [[Name]] Anyone who goes there will be automatically redirected.

Another common mistake made by users is adding an unneeded title header at the top of the page. DO NOT add a header at the top of the article, not only does it spoil the look of the article, it really is unneeded, as MediaWiki (the software that this Wiki runs on) will automatically add in a title header itself once you have saved the page.

[edit] Step-by-Step Process

Go to http://anipedia.thebackalleys.com/index.php/YourUsername. Click "edit this page" to begin.
Pick the right template. (See 1.3).
Read the instructions on the infobox page, and design your infobox on your page.
Underneath your infobox, begin writing about yourself. Try to follow the general format of other pages and the format of the template. Use == this == to start a category. If the article is long enough, it will automatically make a contents list at the top of the article for easier navigation. Help with syntax can be found at the focus page, listed below.
When you are done writing about yourself, don't forget to add yourself to the proper categories. See the Special:Categories page to see what categories you fit into best. Add categories at the bottom of your page and use [[Category:ThisCategory]] to add yourself to a category.
